Step‑by‑Step Installation
1. Preparation & Safety
-
Park on a flat surface, set the parking brake, and raise the front end.
-
Disconnect the negative battery terminal (optional but recommended when working near sensors).
2. Remove Bumper Under‑Tray & Wheel‑Arch Screws
Time: ~10 minutes
-
Under‑tray: Use a T25 Torx to remove the 8 perimeter screws and set the panel aside.
-
Wheel‑arches: Turn the wheels full lock, then remove three 8 mm screws on each inner fender that secure the bumper corners.
3. Remove Top Bumper Bolts & Release Clips
Time: ~5 minutes
Pop the hood. With a T30 Torx, remove the six upper carrier bolts. Gently release the two plastic alignment clips by pulling upward.
4. Disconnect Cameras & Sensors
Time: ~5 minutes
Unplug the front camera (if equipped) and ACC sensor harness. Press the tab and pull—never yank the wires.
5. Remove the Bumper
-
Have a helper support one corner.
-
Pull the bumper straight forward; the side spats will pop off the guide pins.
-
Lay the bumper face‑down on a blanket.
6. Remove the OEM Grille
-
Locate the 14 small plastic tabs around the grille perimeter.
-
Using a trim tool or flat‑head, depress each tab while pushing the grille outward.
-
Transfer the camera bracket and ACC badge to the CSL grille using the same screws.
7. Install the CSL V1 Grille
-
Align the new grille with the bumper opening, starting with the lower tabs.
-
Press firmly until each tab clicks into place. Double‑check all clips are fully seated.
8. Re‑install Bumper
-
Slide the bumper back onto the guide pins under the headlights.
-
Reconnect all wiring harnesses.
-
Reinstall the six upper bolts, wheel‑arch screws, and under‑tray panel. Torque to OEM spec (6 Nm for Torx screws, 10 Nm for carrier bolts).
9. Final Checks
Lower the car and run a quick sensor calibration if prompted by iDrive. Visually inspect panel gaps and ensure the grille sits flush.
Pro Tips for a Flawless Finish
🟢 Use painter’s tape on the headlight edges—prevents accidental scratches when maneuvering the bumper.
🟢 Label your hardware. Small zip‑top bags marked "wheel‑arch" or "under‑tray" speed reassembly.
🟢 Clean cameras before reinstall. A quick alcohol wipe removes fingerprints that can trigger driver‑assist errors.
