The S54 runs hot, and the factory oil cooler is usually the first thing to give up on a track day. CSF developed this one with Rogue Engineering to fix that at the source. Where the OEM unit uses a single pass core inside a plastic shroud, this runs a top and bottom dual pass layout with 8 rows of high density multi louvered fin pitch, so you get far more surface area and flow out of the same space.
Construction is where it really separates from the factory piece. It is a turbulated heavy duty bar and plate core rather than tube and fin, which means it shrugs off rock and debris strikes at speed instead of folding. The end tanks are extruded and fully TIG welded, not bent sheet aluminum mechanically jointed and tack welded like the OEM cooler, so there is no weak seam waiting to fail after a few heat cycles. Finish is motorsport silver.
It is a drop in fit that uses the factory oil lines and factory radiator brackets, with no cutting or modification. The profile follows the contour of the OEM bumper closely, so aftermarket splitter mounting is not an issue. Fits the E46 M3 with the S54, and bolts up to either the factory radiator or CSF's all aluminum triple pass radiator, part number 7058.
