MAD S55 Competition Top Mount Cooler

The factory top mount charge cooler is the weak link in the S55 cooling system, and it fails in two ways. It heat soaks quickly, so the car pulls timing and goes flat after a couple of hard pulls, and the OEM unit is known for developing leaks as it ages, which at best costs you power and at worst puts coolant somewhere it should not be. MAD's replacement addresses both at once.
The core is bar and plate aluminum with a high fin density, physically larger than the factory piece, so there is more thermal mass and more surface area sitting in the same space. Practical result is lower intake air temps, temps that recover faster between pulls, and consistent power on the third and fourth run instead of just the first. On a tuned S55 running higher boost, charge cooling is usually what caps the tune, so this is one of the few parts that lets the tune actually do what it was written to do.
Construction is the other half of the value. Bar and plate is a far more durable design than the OEM assembly, which means you are replacing a known failure point with something built to outlast it rather than waiting for the next leak.
Fits the 2015 to 2019 F80 M3 and F82 and F83 M4, and the 2018 and newer F87 M2 Competition, all with the S55 engine. It is a direct bolt on that uses the factory coolant lines, pump, and mounting locations, installable with basic hand tools and no cutting, drilling, or modification. No tune is required, though the cooler will support well beyond stock power if you are running one. Finish is gloss black. MAD part number MAD-026.
